She

She leans against the window,
peering with tired eyes
and sees only the worst outside.
Looming rain clouds overhead
soak right in as she just stands there,
dwelling on whatever she can find
to be glum about.

She sways away from the window
and moves towards a desk chair,
feet dragging behind her. She
sits down, setting her hands flat
on her legs, and sighs
an uncomfortable sigh.

She stares blankly at bare walls,
focusing only on where nails
were ripped out and where
bits of drywall chipped off.
She attempts to relates, but is
too filled with nothingness.

She doesn’t understand
the means of her unhappiness.
She only knows that it’s there,
lingering around until further action.
She chooses to ignore it and
let it eat at her very core.
One day, she will realize
how she is seen by others.
On that day, hopefully she will
come to terms with herself.
